the perfect insert guide
For all our pillows I recommend a Feather & Down insert because it gives you the best mix of softness, support and that gorgeous fluffy voluminous look. Here’s my guide to buying the right insert
Feather & Down **Recommended**
Down fills are my favorite because they can be fluffed overtime to maintain their shape and look more plump.
The more down fill there is in the feather/down ratio, the better the look. A higher percentage of down feels more luxurious.
Depending on how you want to use the pillow, you'll want to choose the right down percentage because the higher the percentage of down the softer the pillow which gives you less support.
The perfect ratio for a decorative pillow is 10%-25% down and 90%-75% feathers - not too firm and not too soft, just right.
If you are allergic to down this is the perfect insert for you. It imitates the down’s look making it a great alternative.
Synthetic Spun Polyester
Synthetic fiberfill is a low quality insert because it loses shape easily and becomes flat and lumpy overtime.
Throw Pillow Sizing:
When it comes to pillow insert sizing, the general rule of thumb is to choose an insert that is 1″-2″ larger than your pillow cover. I usually go 2″ larger. So for our 20” square pillow covers for example, use a 22″ square insert. Going larger with the insert gives you a more voluminous, fluffier look.
What insert should I get for the perfect "karate chop" ?
Feather down are the perfect inserts to hold a chop.
